Step 1: at the university

The procedure starts at your university:
• Collection of the final diploma (Bachelor / Master / Doctorate)
• Collection of the official transcripts
• Authentication of the diplomas by the university's diploma service
Note: a provisional certificate can be used, but it is preferable to wait for the final diploma to avoid having to redo the procedures.

Step 2: Authentication by the Ministry of Higher Education

The operation is done via the official electronic platform:
https://progres.mesrs.dz/webauthentification/ • Create an account and upload the documents in PDF format
• Online processing of the request
• Download of the authentication document after validation
Duration: from one to three weeks depending on the university

Step 3: Authentication at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

An essential step to give the documents an international character:
• Affix a tax stamp (20 DA per document)
• Go to the offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (or its regional branches)
• In most cases, the documents are collected the same day

Step 4: Authentication of the baccalaureate

For some countries, authentication of the baccalaureate is an essential condition:

  • It is done at the branch of the Ministry of National Education in Algiers

Some countries require additional legalisation:

• It is done at the embassy of the country concerned
• Fees vary by country
• An appointment is often required beforehand

Modern digital services

Electronic services such as "Tasdiq" have been launched to facilitate procedures, in particular for Algerians abroad, through the secure sending and receiving of documents

Important advice

• Keep digital copies of all documents
• Check the requirements of the destination country
