CISA 2024

International Congress on Food Sciences

The latest international reports on the food situation have revealed that Algeria has made several efforts to meet its needs. In 2023, the Davos Economic Forum classified Algeria among the "leading" countries in the world in terms of food security relative to its national production. In the period from 2020 to 2022, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) ranked Algeria in the first position at the Arab and African levels, regarding the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. However, the economic repercussions following the Covid-19 crisis, the current global situation, and climate change are weakening this stability and leaving strategic sectors in persistent deficit.
The first International Congress of Food Sciences (CISA 2024) aims to discuss the issue of food security, its objectives, and its challenges. Recommendations will be offered to enrich strategic plans and actions to be taken

Several themes will be debated during these days to:

  • Contribute to scientific research on food and nutrition
  • Encourage the adoption of healthy and sustainable eating habits
  • Protect and promote traditional Algerian food heritage
  • Promote innovation in biotechnology and the agri-food industry
  • Evaluate the main food sectors
