Professor of environmental biotechnologyin the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science of Umeå University (Sweden). She worked at the University of Aalborg (Denmark)and, at the University ofTechnology in Munich (Germany). Currently, she is head of the Microbial Geoecology and Astrobiologylaboratory. She is also an international expert in environmental microbiology.
