The Applied Microbiology training program aims to provide students with a Bachelor's degree in general microbiology with the necessary skills and knowledge in the field of research and education. The program is situated at the interface between fundamental and applied microbiology, covering topics such as microbial ecology, human, plant, and animal health, chemical industry, microbial biotechnology, agriculture, and food. The objectives of the training include the acquisition of specific methodological and conceptual skills in applied microbiology, such as microorganism identification, biochemical, immunological, and environmental techniques, as well as the use of statistical and bioinformatics tools to characterize microorganisms in complex environments. Students also develop didactic and regulatory skills, enabling them to professionally engage in the fields of education, research, and development. They are also prepared to pursue further studies at the doctoral level, under the guidance of experienced researchers. The targeted general competencies encompass scientific and technical knowledge in applied microbiology, analytical and synthesis skills, initiative-taking abilities, knowledge transmission, proficiency in using computer tools for microbial identification, autonomy in both individual and team work, scientific writing and participation in seminars, as well as the ability to establish start-ups in the field of applied microbiology.
Research centers and universities as a scientific engineer, Laboratories in the pharmaceutical sector, Environmental sectors and laboratories, Agri-food sectors, Agricultural sectors, Hygiene laboratories in municipalities/districts/provinces, Health organizations.
